Fuel and Oil Clean Up Procedures

clean concrete of fuel and oilFollow the step by step instructions below to estimate the amount of concrete remediation materials required for your job, clean the concrete and dispose of waste materials.

Step by Step Instructions - How to Clean Concrete

1. Measure

Measure area to be treated and determine traffic control requirements.

2. Calculate material requirements

a. Emulsate-A: Gallons needed = Area in sq ft divided by 50 sq ft per gallon

b. Digester-B: Gallons needed = Area in sq ft divided by 50 sq ft per gallon

c. Buffer-C: Gallons needed = Area in sq ft divided by 100 sq ft per gallon

d. Bio-Sorb Particulate: Total Bags needed = gallons liquid divided by 8

3. Apply Bio-Sorb

Pour Bio-Sorb around perimeter to produce a small dike. The dike should be about 4 to 5 inches wide at its base and about 3 inches tall.

One 22 pound bag of Bio-Sorb Particulate will produce approximately 35 lineal feet of dike and absorb 10 gallons of liquid.

Tamp material lightly into place.

4. Apply Emulsate-A

Apply Emulsate-A with a low pressure sprayer or pour and broom evenly over the
surface. Broom briskly with a stiff bristle broom to help dislodge and emulsify the oils.

Broom or squeegee the liquid emulsion to the dike to be absorbed.

Use additional Bio-Sorb as needed.

5. Apply Digester-B

Apply Digester-B to surface with a low pressure sprayer, then broom or squeegee to the perimeter dike of Bio-Sorb.

6. Apply Buffer-C

Apply Buffer-C to the area with a low pressure sprayer, let sit for 10 minutes and absorb. Brush briskly to dike of Bio-Sorb.

7. "Feed" Digester-B

Remove all absorbent by shoveling it into liquid proof dumpster. Add two gallons of water per gallon of Digester used. Digester will "eat" the oils.

  • Let sit for 14 to 20 days if temperature is 75 F and above.
  • Let sit for 14 to 30 days if temperature is 50 F to 60 F.

8. Disposal of Wastes

Check water to see if it is clear and oil free, if so it may be drained from the dumpster.

The solids are now oil free and may be placed in a land fill.
