Bio-Sorb Pellets & Fiber

Used in conjunction with CR Solutions, Inc. family of concrete remediation products, Bio-Sorb's high absorbency and low cost make it the lowest cost solution for recovering liquid fuel and industrial wastes and spill.

I. Bio-Sorb Description

BIO-SORB PELLETIZED FIBERS are made with recycled cellulose. The compressed fiber bundles are non toxic and very low dusting making them easy to use as absorbents in confined and industrial areas. The fibers have a very high absorbency that surpasses the absorbency of other absorbent materials such as peat, clay, vermiculite, polypropylene and diatomaceous earth.

The high absorbency and low cost of the BIO-SORB PELLETS make it the low cost solution to gather liquid fuel and industrial wastes and spills. The low weight and high absorbency also reduce the freight in and disposal weight and volume for additional cost savings over other absorbents.

All BIO-SORB FIBERS are biodegradable and can be used with microbial digesters to reduce waste to a form suitable for landfill disposal.

The capillary wicking action and the cell structure of the fibers entrap and hold liquid wastes so that the materials readily pass EPA test requirements (Paint Filter and TCLP tests) for disposal.

II. Bio-Sorb Product Uses

BIO-SORB PELLETIZED FIBERS are used to control and absorb spills of fuels and other industrial materials at fueling stations, trucking companies, transit authorities, marine facilities, refineries, petrochemical plants and other areas where petroleum and chemical based products may be spilled. The palletized form allows ease of handling for forming small dikes or berms for spill containment.

BIO-SORB PELLETIZED FIBERS and BIO-SORB STANDARD FIBERS may also be used to fill cotton socks to build containment areas.

VI. Procedures for Containing and Absorbing Spills

REFER TO CR SOLUTIONS CLEAN UP PROCEDURES FOR CONCRETE PREPARATION.

GENERAL USE:

1. To contain spills and absorb cleaning fluids:

Use BIO-SORB PELLETS to form a dike around the spill or the area to be cleaned. Use additional pellets as necessary to absorb and clean the area. Place the materials in a container for disposal or bio remediation.

2. To stabilize sludge and oily waste in dumpsters, pits and other containment areas:

Use BIO-SORB STANDARD FIBER and CRS Microbe Solution to remediate before disposal.

VII. Concrete Surface Maintenance

Maintain a clean surface to ensure that the anti-slip safety performance of GT 1575 Anti-Slip Concrete Coating is maximized. CRS recommends using a non-ionic, free-rinsing detergent using a scrub brush to remove contaminants.

Collect all fuel and cleaner in CRS Bio-Sorb and place in container with CRS Microbes. Rinse with clean water and allow to dry. Periodic clean up is necessary to prevent fuel build up and run off into surface water.

VIII. Personal Protection

NOTE: BIO-SORB FIBER is often used in conjunction with other materials and for absorbing liquids; assure that proper personnel protection is in place for the various materials as well as the material being absorbed.

EYE PROTECTION: All personnel should be required to wear Safety goggles.

SKIN PROTECTION: Utilize rubber gloves, boots, and full length clothing.

In case of skin contact, wash thoroughly with soap and water. Remove and discard contaminated clothing. If skin irritation occurs, contact a physician immediately.

Maintain a portable eye wash fountain or a clean source of potable water in the immediate work area.

In case of eye contact, flush with water for a minimum of 15 minutes and seek aid at a medical center for treatment

IX. Safety and Handling of Bio-Sorb

Store all materials in original tightly closed containers away from sources of heat, flame and sparks.
